Malaysia National Gathering — John Sung’s Report • October 14-16, 2013
• 13th evening to 14th morning was Pre-Meeting
• 14th afternoon was Explanation Session
• 14th evening to 16th evening were the Main Meetings
Venue: Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia (Grace Convention Centre)
Participating Countries: 17 countries
No. of Participants: More than 2000
Languages: English, Mandarin, and Malay
Brief Accounts of Major Breakthroughs:
1. Dance team: Dance leaders in the Homecoming, Odette and daughter Genevieve, came to Malaysia for the first time to join the Malaysia Gathering. Other than 4 dancers (2 from Wuhan, 2 from Guangzhou and 1 from Macau) who were trained dancers, 20+ other dancers had undergone only 2 training sessions before the Gathering began. Miraculously however, the whole team was able to dance in unison and lead the Gathering in worship through body language.
2. Worship family: Worship leaders, vocalists, keyboardists, guitarists, bass guitarists, drummers, Gong players and native musicians. Other than the first nation singers and pastors, the worship family was also comprised of other locals. The international Homecoming team provided the spiritual covering and guidance. The result was an amazing synchronization, which lifted the worship and caused the worship to soar throughout the few days.
3. The leadership team boldly stood together and humbly asked for forgiveness at the beginning of the Gathering. It was conveyed in 3 languages, in a culture of honoring the different languages present.
4. Prophetic act: The natives took up their position as the spiritual firstborns. They lined up, held up their hands and linked their hands with the hands of the other races, forming a covered walkway for the representatives of other nations to pass through, bowing in worship with shouts.
5. New songs were released during worship, lifting high the Lion of Judah. The native leaders held up the flag and proclaimed that the 14 states of Malaysia opened the ancient gates. The native leaders from Taiwan went up on the stage to give support and made declarations. The leaders from Mainland China also went up on the stage to prophecy and declare.
6. God called us to be like children and He tested the leaders whether they would give way to others. He used a group of native children to lead the Gathering into a deeper worship, hearing and obeying the voice of God. Angels visited the Gathering and God spoke and gave revelations. It was a holy moment, striking everyone with fear and reverence. The natives, representing all the people, came forward to repent and to pray for the nation as well as to surrender the lordship of the nation back to the Creator. Later only did we know that this group of children were home-schooled and worship was very much a part of their lifestyle. They had even fasted and prayed 40 days prior to the gathering!
7. The believers of different races wearing their traditional costumes sang and danced together. The worship culminated in a very solemn surrender – every race knelt down to symbolize their surrender. Subsequently, the Consecration Song was sung in different languages, one language after another. This was a covenant song between Father God and Malaysia.
“Malaysia, will you love the Lord forever?
We will, we will, we will.
Malaysia, will you be the faithful one?
We will, we will, we will.
Malaysia, show me your heart (X2).
We are every color, we are every language, we are every people, we are Yours.
We are One heart (X5). We belong to You.”
That evening, from surrender to covenant-making, it was so glorious that it was beyond description.
8. There was an atmosphere of family walking together, accepting one another in Christ, and in doing so, we lived out the culture of honoring one another. Two fathers from the national team shared in a forum style the history of the family journey. Gifts were given to honor the representatives of the nations who had walked with us for many years. Lastly, Pastor Gideon Chiu, when receiving his gift, added that we should also honor all the anonymous heroes who had sacrificed much for the family journey. He then led all the participants by his own example to do something – As he physically knelt down and placed his gift on the floor in front of him, he said, “When others honor us, we must learn to bow down and kneel, casting down our crowns before the feet of our Lord and prostrating in worship, for He alone is worthy of eternal glory.”
9. Pastor Eddie Ma shared a three-point message:
1) The desire to prepare a resting place for God
2) Listening together and doing what God says
3) Building a home filled with the Presence of God.
He illustrated the core values of the family journey concisely and precisely, enlightening many hearts. There was much excitement in the whole atmosphere of the Gathering, which dispelled all the drowsiness and dullness of the afternoon. He ended with calling all who were below 30 years old to move to the front, and the older adults too to come forward to affirm and pray for the younger generation as their spiritual parents. From their hearts, they declared things over the younger generation, such as, “I believe in you… I will never forsake you.” They made a breakthrough collectively in the father and son relationship.
10. The worship on the last evening was the longest and it was expressed in the most extraordinary way. Red ribbons symbolized the precious blood of Jesus. White ribbons represented holiness. Blue ribbons represented Father’s love, while gold ribbons represented glory. The dancers lifted up the ribbons in their respective positions, allowing the family members to pass through them joyfully. A big crown with a cross represented the King of kings. The dance team lifted up the crown and made two rounds to return to where the rostrum was. They also welcomed the Lord Jesus Christ with palm branches. Alex Ongkili’s son, Jesse, sang in the spirit during worship and Alex immediately went up on the stage to give him the covering. Then when the Spirit moved Alex to stand before the dance team to face the evil one in righteous anger and to display the majesty of the anointing of the Lion, his father-in-law, Pastor Albert Zehr, put aside his gentlemanliness and ran at full speed up the stage to give the covering for his shout. In doing so, we saw Malaysia entering into a walk of three generations. Malaysia had activated the “Silk Road” in God’s kingdom. As Malaysia lifted up the kingship of the King of kings, she emerged victorious in every spiritual standoff.
11. The gathering was under the leadership of Pastor David Demian. At times he coordinated the working together of the different teams. Sometimes he knelt, and at other times he went round the hall to sense the move of the Holy Spirit. There were also times when he cried or inquired of the Lord. Occasionally he went up onto the stage to explain what had just happened. He was not satisfied with the desire of the people to hear him preach. He constantly quenched his own inclination to replace the revelation of the Holy Spirit with his own experience. He desired Father God to manifest His glory. He said, “What God did here amazes me. When I go back to Canada after this Gathering, I need to spend time before the Lord to let Him renew my mind.”
12. “See you in Jerusalem next year!” Pastor David Demian said this as a concluding remark very late,on the last evening.
He shared from the Bible about the experience of Peter, as well as his own testimony about how he, in his younger days, drove a car without petrol. He quoted the testimony of Father Zachariah’s boldness. He also shared about his dream, in which he saw bullets shot at him while he was preaching, but they passed by him and he continued preaching… He inspired the participants by telling us that our lives are in God’s hand, and whatever God has said, would be fulfilled. We ought to increase our faith and align ourselves with God, becoming Christ’s body, being victorious in every spiritual standoff. After China had welcomed the coming of God’s kingdom, Malaysia is the second country to do so. He used the breakthrough in China’s journey to affirm and prophesy the future role and glory of Malaysia. Malaysia family journey gathering was the first after the September Israel trip. He used biblical prophecies and the timing of next year’s lunar and solar eclipses to explain how the redemption plan of God would come to pass speedily. Hence, the Chinese are to embrace the descendants of Isaac and the descendants of Ishmael. The biblical feast of the tabernacle and the midnight cry, which will soon be fulfilled in the journey to Jerusalem, will satisfy our heavenly Father’s heart. Amen.
